Nobody's here to slam you ; but we do have some good debates here.

Anyways, my uncle has Xbox for his kids, and I will admit, the startup screen looks real nice and all, but I've played halo, and I don't see any difference in graphics between that, and the PS2. Xbox is also way to clunky for me, the front CD tray is nice, but PS2 can sit upright, or horizontally, and you can stack it with sterio eupiment. Lets not forget that PS2 also IS Hard-drive capable, infact, the linux kit for it (by sony) includes a 40 GIG HDD! That's 4 times as big as Xbox's.

Xbox is nice, but I wouldn't own one as a main system, I'd own one incase a game came out for it that didn't come out on PS2 or GC (same reason for getting a GC), like shenmue II, I played the first one on dreamcast, and it really leaves you hanging! The second one is only available on Xbox in english.

Well I'm always up for a good debate, especially when it comes to gaming! I worked in the industry as a journalist for four years, and have spent the last year and a half working on a multimedia entertainment website. I have been to five E3s, and I have attended many press events. I am in constant contact with PR people at all the game companies, so I am pretty "tapped-in." Not trying to show off or anything, just giving you some background so you don't think I'm a chump.

Anyway, back to the subject (sorry). The thing with Sony's HD being bigger really doesn't impress me, because I have never even come close to filling up my Xbox's HD. I have almost 100 songs saved on my Xbox, plus game saves for several sports titles (BIG files), and I am nowhere near capacity. So you don't really need bigger. But it's good that Sony is finally following suit.

I will admit that PS2 has many, many more great games. But just on a technical level, PS2 cannot do the same tricks that Xbox can. Next time you're at your uncle's, put Halo in. Look down at the grass on Halo. Look at the lighting in the "Truth and Reconciliation" level. Look at the metallic reflectivity on walls and on the Master Chief's armor. Notice how far you can see into the distance without any draw-in. Look at the intelligence of the AI in both the Marines and the enemies. There are so many things being rendered and calculated at any given time while you are playing that game. Many of the things are subtle, but PS2 just can't do all those subtleties that add up to make a huge difference in visuals and gameplay.

Another example is Chronicles of Riddick. You might think this is just another silly movie tie-in game, but I can assure you that no other console game to date looks as good as that game. It uses the new "normal mapping" graphic trick that id is using in Doom 3 (another PC and Xbox exclusive). I don't think PS2 can do normal mapping, and that is why the game is Xbox exclusive. If it does come out later for PS2, it will be a highly watered-down version, like the Splinter Cell for PS2 was.

Even so, I could never live without my PS2. I love the RPGs, the Onimushas, Mark of Kri, Getaway, Gran Turismo, and all the quirky Japanese stuff like Mr. Mosquito and Mad Maestro. They don't look as good, but the gameplay is awesome and you will never see those games on Xbox.

My advice to anyone buying a game console... Buy all three!! There are games on all three systems that I just HAVE to have in my library. The prices are coming down, so it's affordable to own them all.

AH! Another SEGA devotee... I agree that Dreamcast is awesome. It's such a shame that it wasn't given the proper treatment by game developers and publishers. SNK fighting games woohoo!
