There might be a thread like this out there, but like I just told Snowman, I didn't really feel like looking for it. Ah well.
So, here is the place to let us all know what treasures you have found on any given day. I figure this will come in handy especially since CHRISTMAS and Haunnukah are coming up, so this is the place to post what great finds you now have! Feel free to bookmark this thread in your own personal "Favorite DK Forum Threads" folder, as I have just done. And since I'm starting the thread, I will start the joy. While Christmas shopping for those I love, I am happy to report that I found a love for these books... ahem, for myself: The first book of an epic fantasy series that I can't go anywhere without hearing about it, Geore R. R. Martin's first volume of his A SONG OF FIRE AND ICE series, A GAME OF THRONES.
Dan Simmons seminal work of science fiction, something I have always been meaning to read, HYPERION.
And my newest favorite submarine thriller writer's third book, PHOENIX SUB ZERO.
And I got all of these at the used book store for only $8! |

Whoa, that Dan Simmons book looks nice. I'll have to look into that.
I recently acquired A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, and am reading it right after I finish the final OTHERLAND book. I usually only buy Koontz books, but once in a while I'll pick up other books for birthday and Christmas gifts. A few recent ones... The first book in the epic fantasy series called THE WHEEL OF TIME. I've heard good things about it from another member, saying it had similar themes to THE DARK TOWER series, but other then that completely different.
One of my favorite authors... ![]() ![]()

i am excited to see that WW!! a game of thrones is the beginning to, imo, the greatest books ever. absolute favorite series. it is truly and epic adventure you are embarking on with that. i am grinning from ear to ear. i wish i could start the series over again for the first time, though only 4 of 7 books are even out yet. hopefully more. it was only supposed to be 6 and he added one.
(put this book down to start on "a game of thrones") |

I want to start that Dan Simmons series too. I've had Hyperion for years and finally found Rise of Endymion the other day when I picked up the 2nd Otherland book. (I never start a series till I have all of them - I know it's silly but I can't take the wait inbetween books)
