Not to forget your South American friends who will not be able to read "The Husband" as well... But that's another issue

I think that three books per "era" in the finals would be just great.

And, of course, I'm still here crossing my fingers to FTCOHE, "False Memory", "The Servants of Twilight", "Lightning", "Sole Survivor".... Eh.... Do you think this list is getting bigger and bigger?

Actually, MrHyndie, I was thinking specifically of you...

The list of books can only get so big, can't it?

Thanks for your thoughts, my dear buddy! Miss being here more often!

Yes, the list could just go on and on forever.

Okay, brass tacks time, guys.

We need to come up with a list in order to divide the books into eras (if this is how we are going to do it--we need more feedback from people, esp. ChrisSnow). Obviously, in chronological order, the first era should start with DK's oldest copyrighted in-print book, and the most recent era should end with FOREVER ODD.

What are everyone's thoughts about how to break them up or proceed with this?

OK, well...I apologize in advance for the extra-long post, but here is a complete list of the books I consider as the quintessential DK books, dating from 1973 - Present. I have left out a few obscure and out of print books, but feel free to add any you wish that I haven't included...

Demon Seed (73)
Shattered (73)
Icebound (76)
Night Chills (76)
The Vision (77)
The Face of Fear (77)
The Key to Midnight (79)
Whispers (80)
The Funhouse (80)
The Voice of the Night (80)
The Mask (81)
The Eyes of Darkness (81)
The House of Thunder (82)
Darkfall (83)
Phantoms (83)
The Servants of Twilight (84)
Twilight Eyes (85)
Strangers (86)
_______________________________
Watchers (87)
Shadow Fires (87)
The Door to December (87)
Lightning (88)
The Bad Place (89)
Midnight (89)
Cold Fire (90)
Hideaway (91)
Dragon Tears (92)
Mr. Murder (93)
Winter Moon (93)
Dark Rivers of the Heart (94)
Intensity (95)
Tick Tock (96)
Sole Survivor (97)
_______________________________
Fear Nothing (97)
Seize the Night (98)
False Memory (99)
From The Corner Of His Eye (00)
One Door Away From Heaven (01)
By The Light Of The Moon (02)
The Face (03)
Odd Thomas (03)
Life Expectancy (04)
The Taking (04)
Velocity (05)
Forever Odd (05)
Frankenstein Book 1 (05)
Frankenstein Book 2 (05)

And that pretty much brings us up to date, with the obvious exception being The Husband, which is due out this year, just as our tournament will be starting.

Can anyone suggest where we would divide the "eras" - it's tough for me to say, since he wrote SOOOOOOO many great books early on in his career. It really is hard to believe that some of these books come from the 70s!

EDIT: OK, I've put in a line where I think we COULD seperate them...the early era is a little easier to define, but the line between his middle and later eras is a little blurred for me...any siggestions?
