I'm half way thru Girl next Door, and I still cling to my claim that abusing Children for entertainment is where it's at! I'm glad it's fiction, but this same stuff goes on in real life, and I wish it's stop. I like the short chapters, because its not a book that you curl up and read in one sitting. VERY disturbing, and I'm only at the half-way point :(
Ask me about DEAN KOONTZ Forum T-shirts. Cool.

Oh I've read The Girl Next Door and really loved it. Not loved it in a, "Wow, wasn't that fun" sort of way. It is very disturbing, but Ketchum really did a great job of creating characters I was invested in, both the ones I cared about and the ones I loathed. And he definitely had me invested in the plight of the "girl next door," and I felt all her pain. Which made it an odd experience, that even while I was in awe of Ketchum's skill, I was just devestated by what was happening in the book, if that makes sense.

It's the only Ketchum I have so far, though I have both Off Season and Off Spring that I got from used bookstores. I hear the sequel, Off Spring, is far inferior to the first.

I've got The Girl Next Door, Off Season, and Off Spring. Alot of people in the koontz forum have mentioned Girl Next Door as being good, very disturbing. Maybe I should put it on this summers TBR list. Are you going to read it soon FE?

I ended up ordering Girl Next Door from a local bookstore. They didn't have it in stock but they ordered it for me. Do you have a bank account, because most bank cards can also act as credit cards for online ordering. You can of course order new books online. I personally go the cheaper used route most of the time, but I don't really mind a book that's a bit worn as long as I can read it. Most places where you order books, the sellers give you a description of the book, what kind of condition it is in. Now and then you may get a book that's in worse condition than described, but for the most part I've found people to be honest about that.

Yeah peacable kingdom is the main one i can find, i also always find either offspring or offseason, but never both, lol. I saw the girl next door one time and the book was all ripped up so i didnt buy it, i figured that one would be easier to find. I really need to get a credit card or something so i can start doing some shopping online for books i cant find. I really want to check out his book Only Child, it sounded good, and i also want Simmons Darwins Blade which seems to be impossible to buy from a store...

The main reason i hold off on online shopping is my OCD tendancies to require new books in perfect condition, but i have slowly gotten a little better about it, and as long as they arent like really bad i will be okay.
