Some people think it is strange she never mentioned in the book and accuse her of being afraid of alienating fans, so she waited until the books were over, but as a writer I know that when a character truly comes alive, you often know things about them that don't make it into the story because they are not relevant. That said, I've never had something that major not come out, but it really was never relevant to any of th ebooks.

It makes sense. The fact that Dumbledore is secretly in love with Gellert Grindelwald -- it explains quite a bit about their early relationship.

Even though I kind of agree that his sexuality was never an issue therefore no real reason to bring it up, I do think it could have been relevant in the last book. We learned so much of his past and his relationsihp with Grindelwald(whom Rowling says he was in love with), so in that instance it does seem a little conspicuous that she would not at least touch on it. I've read some calling it a cop out, only revealing it now that the series is over. I'm torn on how I feel about it.
