Most animals have a character to be sure. Even fish come to know the human that feeds them. I think a difference is the soul, and that it is tied in with having a conscience; something God only gave humans, IMHO.
It sure is easier to be around a nice dog than a grumpy person, to be sure.
Ask me about DEAN KOONTZ Forum T-shirts. Cool.

this is a pretty perplexing question here but here's my veiw of it

the only reasons we have certain emotions is because we've advanced so far as a race we were enabled to develop these emotions therefore giving us the emotions referred to as "basic emotions", the fact that animals don't have this is because their set of "basic emotions" are different than ours because of the varying level of intelligence. think about that eh

I highly doubt that humans are the only thing in existence that have souls. That makes our race sound kind of egotistical.

btw near every religion itself is egotistical, notice in almost all of the religions humans are made in the image of god? even though later on it's covered up by, "humans aren't perfect" l8er on in the thing.

Having a soul is nothing that can be proved or disproved. Religion can't answer that question. Science can't answer that question.

"If humans were the only beings with souls, that would make us egotistical." Well, that is if having a soul is a good thing. Who is to say having a soul isn't a good thing. All this soul talk starts debate about something that no one has answers to.

I'm with Koontz, dogs have souls. Mine does. I've read some neat discussion by scientists who believe in God and researched our consciousness vs soul vs brain activity. It was very interesting.
I'm inclined to believe in parallel worlds filled with dark bound Snow and Odd adventures.

I like to believe that our bodies are just temporary and that we will move on after our time here. I also like to believe that my lottery numbers will pay off one day.
