My experience with the book was odd since I had read all the other books in the series first. While I didn't know specifics, I did have a general knowledge of what was coming.

I enjoy someWWII stories, but to get deep and endlessly into the gory details of the concentrations camps turns my stomach mostly. I loved tales like Wolf's Hour, NightBoat and any number of other stories...like I've said before, it totally turned off my hairdresser, she returned the book to my unfinished. Her loss, I think the series is terrific!
Ask me about DEAN KOONTZ Forum T-shirts. Cool.

I like the way he gets in these guys heads, how you know what they're thinking. This is the first book where I ever really looked at the map. When I first saw it I thought 'Oh no' but I've gone back to it a couple times.

I just finished the gypsy tarot card part.

I'm not a fan of WW2 stories much, but if you ever come across Elie Wiesel's NIGHT - grab it - it is a perfect 10/10 book. It should be out in paperback by now.

LOL I hadn't even noticed the map in the front! Any way, I'm into now, alittle over a hundred pages. I cringe when they speak of the SS and they're actions.
I like how Wilson switches scenes.

Highlight for spoilers...I was alittle confused at how Flick and Waltz got up to Kaempffer's room, I assumed Woermann's men brought them up?? They were dead right, it was for a scare tactic.

I think that may be what keeps it so interesting, the switching scenes and POV.

spoilers in white:

I don't think they put those guys there, I think they walked there, if not by themselves, with a little help from Molosar.

This Glenn character is very interesting and sounds like he's going to be a love interest for Magda. It'll be interesting to find out what his backstory is. He sounds like a good guy, especially considering his concern for the care of his horse.
