that engine uses 3 different types of carb.
float type diaphragm type with single mixture screw diaphragm type with two mixture screws. so to figure out exactly which carb you have i will need to know the type or spec number that follows the tc300 model number. but if your engine has the float type carb, you need to tear the carb down and clean it out. the screw in the bottom of the float bowl is a fixed jet. it has very small holes in it. so once you have the carb completely taken apart, you need to poke a fine piece of wire thru every hole that you can find in the carb body, and all its parts, especially that bottom jet. follow the wire up with blasts of carb cleaner. diaphragm type with single mixture screw this carb is the hardest of all to get right because the screw controls both high and low speed mixtures. try to open it up just a little at first to see if it corrects your problem. if not, tear the carb down and replace the diaphragm and gasket if needed, and poke wire thru the carb body and all its parts as i described up above. make sure you make note of which position the diaphragm and gasket are located in. very important otherwise the engine will not restart. diaphragm type carb with two mixture screws. this carb is pretty simple compared to the other carb. it looks the same, and uses the same parts. but it has two screws. one screw controls high speed mixture, and the other controls low speed mixture. if your machine will not idle, back the screw out that is closest to the engine block. if it will not rev, as yours is doing unless the choke is closed, back the screw out that is furthest from the engine block. if this does not help, tear the carb down and rebuild it as i described above. another thing to look at is the carb mounting. make sure the carb is mounted tightly to the intake, and make sure the head bolts are tight. these two things will cause the situation you are describing. although they are not as common as a dirty carb or one that has come out of adjustment. |
