Ok, so here's the story. My girlfriend (we're both 17) lives in a house across from this big old catholic church. The home she lives in used to be the house where all the Nuns lived. One night she was sleeping in her bed and she "closed her eys for what seemed like a second". She told me that when she opened them she was in her room, and everything was exactly as it had been before. But she heard a strange noise. It was the sound of someone humming, and piano music. She tried to move to see what it was, but she couldn't. She then felt icy cold fingers touching her up her legs and back. Then something grabbed her by the neck and she could not breath, she was being choked. Then she got the feeling of being carried away. She said she could SEE going down the hall, and being carried down the stairs by something, that was carrying her toward the basement. She suddenly awoke, and was still laying in her bed.

Recap:
-Closes her eyes, opens them one second later
-Hears humming/piano
-something starts touching her, then chokes her
-carried to basement
-wakes up

Now, normally I would say that this is just a realy scary nightmare, but like... alot of weird crap has gone on in her house. Lights turning on behind locked doors, a puppy dog got locked in a room when no one was home, footsteps, her mother would walk up the stairs and suddenly feel very cold and felt something rubbing her on the back (she told no one about this until the same thing happened to her at the time boy friend) etc. A similair dream also happened to her mother.

So, is there a special name to those types of dreams? DO you think her house could be haunted? I know nothing about ghosts and the like, and I'd really like it if someone could give me some insight about that ASAP (I'm going over to her house for the night tonight...)

Well there's the classic Night Hag but that seems different than what your gf experienced.

Have you all checked the history of the house? As in going to the town records, checking for any deaths that took place there or asked around the neighborhood? Sometimes that helps unearth information that wasn't unknown.

*edit* i apologize i didnt click the "Night Hag" link above which is the information I posted. Still a neat read on some of these sights though.*edit*

hey i made an account right after i read this as I was troubles by an experiance resembling it. I then retold my story on a forum i frequent and found out something that put me greatly at ease.

For my experience I was lying fce up as I awoke and my body had seized up. I then felt a presence at the foot of my bed and heard a rushing sound mixed with a scream. This happened for about 30 seconds. Until today and reading this forum it has effected my life as the most horrifying exerience of helplessness I have ever had.

But then i got this info:
http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/paralysis.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis
http://www.medterms.com/script/main/...rticlekey=9806

this outlines something called 'sleep paralysis'. A disorder taht occures in about 30% of the population. They go into more detail but every single episode will have the body in a form of paralysis. The truly terrifying thing is you are waking from a REM state so your mind is fully active. This can lead to hallucinations.

Now what hapened to her may not have been this but these sites but me greatly at ease as it explained fully what happened to me. Hopefully it can put her at ease as well as it is a truly terrifying experience.
