I'll also have to go with Pet Semetary. I read the book when I was a freshman in high school I believe and I finished it around midnight on a night a was home alone. I don't think I had good sleep that night :)
I require a window seat and an inflight Happy Meal, and no pickles! God help you if I find pickles!

I have honeestly yet read a book that actually "scares" me. However the goriest and the ones to make my body twinge are Frankenstein I, Prodigal Son by Koontz, Red Dragon by T. Harris and Toxin by Robin Cook.

i havent ever really been scared by a book but i would recomend a H.P.Lovecraft one if thats what you are looking for just because they are dark and to me they set the mood of the story very well.
