   Not all anti-virus companies are created equal. Some of them merely license and re-package software to sell. Others do their own research and develop products.

Kaspersky is one of the few companies which stays on top of security threats and develops its own solutions.

Kaspersky Internet Security offers comprehensive solution, including scheduled scans, scan on demand, web surfing safety and vulnerability scan.

Web surfing browser plug-in comes into play when you do a web search - the resulting website will have an icon which will indicate whether Kaspersky knows that site is safe, unknown or dangerous. For dangerous sites, the access is automatically blocked.

Vulnerability scan is an excellent feature which allows you to make sure that your system settings are safe (for example it suggests to disable things like "Autorun for flash drives") and that your software has critical updates applied.

Many of us know how important it is to update programs like Flash Player and Java - but it's frankly a pain to do this every time a reminder comes up.
Kaspersky gives you the extra motivation by showing when critical updates are due and why they are important.

There is also a built-in firewall and extra nifty tools like Network Monitor and Process Monitor - they show you what happens with your programs and LAN/Internet connection.

After having used Norton and Webroot, I discovered that Kaspersky is both powerful and pleasure to use - I recommend it 100%!
