Religion Forums

I have posted this because I feel that religion is a very important part of not only society, but also individual lifestyles. Some disagree with religion, and state that it is a crutch for the weak, I state just the contrary, weakness is the greatest strength, and all strength is brought out and amplified to its maximum potential through it.

So, I am requesting a religion forum “section”. Inside this section there will be multiple “forums” on different religions, where those of this religion can freely speak of their religion without interference of other religions. Yea, I know, this is going to be really hard to do and keep control of, that’s why I am proposing very strict rules and more than one moderator for each forum (I upright put myself out there to personally moderate each and every one of these forums).

Now, there will of course be rules. And lots of them, but they will all be very clearly explained and strait to the point, no leg pulling. I will be up front with everyone, I am strait up a full fledge Christian, but I respect other religions. Though I do not agree or believe in any other religion, I respect them and I respect those who believe and live them. As I see it, people believe in religions, and without them, a religion is non-existent. I respect people and I will stand up for what is right, so don’t worry about if someone is attacking you or your religious values, it will not be allowed AT ALL.

There are two religions, which, since the very moment they met each other, have been attacking each other like there is no tomorrow. That’s not going to happen here, and if it does, the thread or individual that is posted or who has posted will have their post edited with a warning. In this, I also propose a new system to help other moderators and don himself in moderating the forums. As I have seen in other sites (www.physicsforums.com) there is a warning system. Next to every individual person’s post is a little link. It basically tells how many warnings a person has and what they are for (I think that the warning number should be listed for all members to see, but the warning itself will be strictly for moderators and administrators to see, and any leaking of a person’s warning will result in the leakers themselves being warned for attempted stir up. In private messages, fine, but on the boards, let keep harmony guys. As don has said before, three strikes and you’re out, so let’s keep it cool here guys.

Now for the rules. I’ll try to be as blunt yet honest as I can be.
1.     No personal attacks. I will not tolerate anyone (I don’t care how big and tough you are) attacking someone for their beliefs and faiths. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
2.     No broad attacks. I will also not tolerate any attacks on any particular religion itself. Again, if you haven’t anything kind to say, just don’t say anything at all. Learn like the rest of us; bite your tongue. That lesson is one that would very well benefit your entire life.
3.     No offensive threads or posts. Guys, if you heard “Hey, Jesus was monkey (no offense to any Christians out there, just an example…would I really attack my own faith?)”, you know right off the bat that’s going to offend someone. Don’t post it. If you have an honest question, by all means post it, but be honest about it, try not to offend someone, because that thread or post will be edited and you will be warned. Now I’ll tell you right now, I’m a bit more lenient than don is. I’ll tell you personally to chill out and I’ll edit your post, but I probably won’t give you any official warnings. Don may not be as kind, so be on your toes. By the way, Tutorials are allowed and are encouraged, but you have to send them in to a moderator first, so that we can check it (every one of them will be read carefully). Tutorials will be closed sticky threads (one in each forum) and the moderators will add the newer tutorials. In making tutorials, try not to be extremely lengthy, and try to make it clear and understanding for everyone. There will be NO editing of submitted tutorials, if they do not meet standards, they will be sent back to you and told why they are not accepted; as to keep any uprising down and for basic politeness.
4.     Be cool; remember folks, just because someone doesn’t believe in what you do, it doesn’t make them enemy number one. It makes them a “non-believer” in what you believe and in no way constitutes a threat. I have been attacked by many members on many different boards because of my beliefs, but I do not attack others. Why? It’s not right, that person is entitled to their beliefs, no matter if they are sound in scientific researches or not. They are STILL important to that person and in many cases, will be taken to one’s death; inseparable.

As for “who” will moderate these forums, I think at least one, maybe two, believers of that religion should be entitled a position to it. These people MUST be able to respect other religions and beliefs and yet hold the rules stationary. Be supportive of other’s beliefs, but by all means, feel free to exercise your rights to attempt to persuade others to your beliefs (just don’t make it a “if you don’t believe this, I won’t be your friend anymore” or “if you don’t believe this, then you are my enemy forever” routine). Be careful though, you have to know what to say and when to say it; sometimes shutting your mouth (...eh…keyboard???…) is the best option.

As for you butchers out there who just enjoy the life out of going around and making havoc on religious folks, don’t try it, you’ll get banned faster than you can spell the word “idiot”. Asking questions is fine, but when you continuously hag someone about the same thing over and over again (or perhaps not the same thing, just being a hag about “something” all the time) gets old real fast and not to mention, puts a label on your back the size of Cincinnati. If you want to know about a religion and its beliefs, GREAT, but if you go around and make contradictory statements (for example: Christian-“hey, Jesus Died for your sins”-Atheist-“what’d he do such a dumb thing like that for?”-Christian-“because he loves you”-Atheist-“why would he want to do that?”...you get the point?) it gets aggravating quite quickly (fascinating enough) and can result in a very unpleasant “go away”.

Ask away at your questions, just make them sound, genuine, short, and to-the-point. No one likes a long-winded question; there’s always a shorter way, try to find it. If you can’t, ask one of the moderators. Also, if you see someone posting a question or comment about another question that seems like “common sense” to you, don’t be a jerk; be considerate and polite in responding or correcting someone. In fact, a bit of advice; never EVER say the words “Wrong” or “what” in your introductory sentence. It seems to immediately make someone uneasy.

My personal suggestion for the moderators, myself (since I already accept and am here nearly every day and I follow the rules and enforce them as they are wrote), two who have extensive knowledge on that particular religion, and one more who has extensive knowledge and leadership ability on the site for the rules. Moderators, if you have a quarrel with another member, by all means, do not attempt to use your given power as a moderator (rather, do not risk it) with trying to get even and don’t go around following a single person’s posts all the time. If you have to, close the thread, edit it with a suggested warning, and Private message it to don, me, Andy, Gemtaur, or some other respected member of the site (that is, PM the original thread or post).

Well, that’s about it guys. I tried to be as short as I could, but I had some points to make, you know how it can get. Y’all (ha ha…that’s southern for “you-all”…lol) think on this for a spell and tell me what you think, it’s still a relatively fresh idea and can still be changed to fit others.
