lesson learned eh? never reach under a running mower. thats what opc (operator presence control) levers are for on new mowers. let them go and everything shuts off. they were designed for people who dont know enough not to stick their hands under their mower, or in any machine that will cause bodily harm.

the story behind their design was that back in the 70's, two guys decided to lift a honda hr21 rotary mower up in the air while it was running and trim their bushes with it. both guys lost fingers. they sued honda for millions of dollars because of their own negligence hence, opc levers were created to save every mower manufacturer money, and consumers body parts.
