I will join you as soon as I finish Game of Thrones, but it'll be another week. This book is too great to put down!! I bet you'd like it Gene.

Halfway thru (p281) and I am not really thrilled with this book, but then I wasn't with the one before it either.
The piggies,
the religion,
the virus,
the language thing - it's pretty much the same as the last book. It just seems like a lotta fluff filling up the pages until the "big event" I hope it's worthwhile.

I do love the beginning of each chapter, I like that more than the entire chapter and I love Jane of course, and the Asian thing is amusing but aside from that....

I agree that this one reads at times like Atlas Shrugged...a bunch of boring philosophy, going nowhere.
This could be the end for me with this series. I'm near the end, maybe 40 pages or less.

I have about 10 or so pages left and agree with you Gene. I did like the Asian thing at first but it got old quick. I have the 5th book in this series though.......
(a very nice man sent it to me)
and you do too, don't you?

We need to ask Snowman about the next one in the series, you never know it could be good, it could be better than Ender's Game.

I finished it last night and absolutely hated the ending! It was nothing but a blatant set-up for a sequel. Before reading the ending I would have given it a 7/10 or an 8/10 but now it'll get a 5/10 which on my scale is average and I skimmed over parts of it due to monotony, otherwise I would have put it down.

I completely loved the entire series, but the last two definitely not even close to the greatness of the first two.

The SHADOW series is much more action / military goodies. Less philosophy and science.

ENDER'S SHADOW
SHADOW OF THE HEGEMON
SHADOW PUPPETS
SHADOW OF THE GIANT

I thought ENDER'S SHADOW was #5 in the series. Is it a completely different series?

Yeah, completely different. ENDER'S SHADOW is ENDER'S GAME but from Bean's point of view. The last three books in the SHADOW series take place between ENDER'S GAME and SPEAKER FOR THE DEAD.

Reading the SHADOW books before XENOCIDE and CHILDREN OF THE MIND won't raise your enjoyment of those two that I can think of.

Well, if they don't start one up, we can always make our own with Goats and read Cold Fire by DK. That'll really put the pressure on him. Let's gang up.

I might be interested too if they read something good.

-------------
I'm inclined to believe in parallel worlds filled with dark bound Snow and Odd adventures.
