Note: George Bush or Bill Clinton are not an appropriate response for the other choice. Idiotic choices will not be tallied.

Ahhh. Good one. Who's more evil--the pilosopher? Or the fool with the power and the means to act on the philosophy?

I say Stalin. Sheer number decides this, even though Hitler is more well-known. Karl Marx may be indirectly responsible, and it's a tempting choice, but as far as I'm concerned, he could have been ignored, and millions upon millions of people would have lived.

Freud was a douche bag, and created a whole generation of whiny morons and people who avoid responsibility/accountability for themselves. But he had no hand in the death of millions. I had to look up Immanuel Kant. Same goes for him.

OK, I'll go out and say it. If you're going to hold people responsible for their writings, statistically speaking, Rachel Carson, the author of Silent Spring is responsible for more deaths than Hitler or Stalin because her book led to widespread ban on DDT, thereby causing untold numbers of people to perish from malaria.

That having been said, Stalin was more evil since he even sent members of his own family to death. As far as I know, Hitler hasn't done that.

I really don't know as much about Stalin...so...I chose Hitler...just because of the sheer brutality by which he killed his victims. Definitely the most abhorrent events in history...IMO.

Let's just say we are lucky Stalin didn't have access to gas chamber technology. He used the gulags and mass starvation instead.

Stalin - I read about a speech he gave in which the whole audience clapped for about an hour because they were scared of being the first person to stop clapping.

OK, so I finally choose.... STALIN. No surprises there. Though Carson and Kant come close. Kant because of his ridiculous categorical imperative and because he is the major influence of Karl Marx. While Mao Zedong is responsible for more deaths than Stalin, Stalin was more direct. It might as well be a seven way tie between all of these people though.

The founder of environmentalism.

Sorry...had to go with Hitler. I can't think of anyone more evil. I have to admit to being perplexed as to why Kant is on the list?

I've changed my mind. Immanuel Kant is officially the most evil person to ever live. I've been reading about his philosophy, and he is singlehandedly responsible for destroying the Age of Enlightenment and putting us in the situation we are in right now with environmentalism, welfare, statism, etc.

Question is, did he know what his writings will lead to? Not necessarily. He was just sitting in his ivory tower coming up with theories.
That's why I chose Carson; she should have known what would happen when she did research for her book but ended up choosing nature over people.
Maybe a better poll would be whose theories cause more evil, then Kant would be at the root of it, but can't blame him personally.

I think to be evil, you have to have malicious intent, too. Freud and Kant just don't meet that criterium. They were trying to help and better mankind. Screwed up bigtime, to be sure, but were trying to help. Hitler...he was just a serial killer with the ability to do what he wanted.

Outta curiosity, why isn't muhammed on there? He wins hands down for me.
