I use a 49cc 2 stroke engine that are intended for pocket rockets. I've been clocked at over 50mph but average cruising speed is 40 to 45mph. hard part was getting the gearing right which ,i'm happy to say i have mastered.anyone know of any forums frequented by builders of same??
Global news(bctv)wants to do a story on my bikes and myself so am looking for a few new ideas or tips or??

Hi Haggard, fellow newbie here. I am in the sanding painting stage of my latest motorbike.

I sure would be interested in pics of yours.

I will send you a couple of mine if you like.

This may not be the best forum for my question, but if anyone can give me a suggestion, I'd appreciate it.

I have trying to find out what motor bike I had in 1956 in NYC.

I've searched online, but not found anything that seems quite the same. Maybe my advanced years, but I was 19 and no one in my family is left who can help.

I bought the bike from a neighbor in Riverdale in the Bronx, New York. I would drive it down the West Side Highway, across the bridge into Manhattan and down to the Village. Don't recall how I lost it.

It was a sturdy, squarish bike frame, large balloon tires and a small engine in the frame opening. As I remember it had hand controls for the brake and throttle and probably the rear braking was through the peddles. You peddled it to get the engine going.

Sorry I can't recall more about the details. But it would go at least 45 to 50 mph! The toll takers on the bridge to Manhattan would question me because small wheeled motorscooters were not allowed on that highway, but my fill sized wheels got me through. I must have registered it to drive on the highway.

It didn't look like a Whizzer, the frame was more square and not fancy.

Any suggestions on how I could research this would be much appreciated.
