When I was little, we were at my grandparents house and my dad punished me for something and my greatgrandother was hugging me and telling me it was ok and whatnot. My dad grabed me and told her to never do that again when I was being punished. Then we left. Needless to say my dad will not contradict what I tell my kids even if he thinks I'm wrong.

I don't have a huge problem with grandparents spoiling the kids a bit. Kids at a very young age learn that different rules apply with different people. As long as my parents don't criticize me in front of my kids, I'm OK with them being lenient in their house, even when I'm around.

Truth be told, I don't think my mom really respects me. Oh well...
