Okay, if it doesn't have a battery, it has to run the current thru a rectifier then. That might be the situation then. don

Just for grins, I took a look at the schematic for the Tomos Targa (1999 model), and there is no sign of a battery anywhere. Never have seen any sign of one on the bike either. All of the lights come off of the "A.C. Regulator, 12V 60W", and then go through the different switches. Phil

So they call it an AC regulator,eh? Now if it puts out 12V AC, it is truly a regulator, but if it changes it to 12V DC, it is really a rectifier. Wonder what it does? don-ohio

Well the AC/DC question got my curiosity up, so I went out and put the voltmeter on it. The AC Regulator puts out 10 volts AC at idle, and it is what powers everything from the lights and directional lights to the horn, going by the schematic. With the lights not working, I think I'd check the output from the AC Regulator. It's the silver/green box behind the black electronic box with 3 yellow and 2 brown leads coming out of it. If you don't get any voltage out of it at idle, that would be the culprit on lights. Phil |
