Theoretically, in my opinion, the Giants are dead, and Tom Coughlin is toast.

I'm not going to be one of the people that is rushing out and blaming Eli, because I think one of these days he will begin proving to people that he can be more consistent and be a leader on this team.

But Coughlin is outta here. He has totally lost this team.

So now I already have to begin wondering who will replace him.

I agree it is not Eli to blame. Coughlin has shown what he's got...and its not enough.

Now here's the question: Even though the Giants don't deserve to be in th eplayoffs, if they win, if they actually win however many games, does Tom Coughlin still get fired?

My guess, like that of many others, it appears, is that he will have to win twice in the playoffs. Simply beating the Eagles just won't do. Coughlin needs to advance further than the team did in last year's playoffs if he wants to have another crack at it with this team next year.

And if you're wondering why this Giants fan won't even consider that the Giants might actuall surprise a few people by being ulitimately successful, then you haven't been paying attention. The Giants stink. On paper, (and oh, how I love using that phrase, as if everything on paper will come true, that they really don't have to play the games at all), the Giants are a very talented team and capable of winning it all. But on the field, for what ever reason (Coughlin), they haven't been able to put it all togethor.

I don't even want to watch. After the beating ND took from LSU the last night, I just don't want to watch anymore football this year.

I'm starting to focus on baseball already.

Bill Cowher resigned as coach of the Steelers today. I wonder if he would make himself available to coach the Giants next year.

It is kind of strange that he would resign now, after just winning a Super Bowl. Is it because he just wanted to go out on top? Is it a family thing, he just wants to actually retire and spend time at home? Or is it just that he's done all he can do with the Steelers in all of the time he has spent there and is looking for a new challenge. I say that challenge could be the Giants.

Fire Tom! Hire Bill!

Good question, since Cowher is a true-blue Pitt resident, etc. I'm extremely surprized that he quit!

Those Eagles, like the Giants, are another of those pesky teams that won't go away, even after a bad season.
