I heard that the detective novel rumor was false, but I think it would make sense, as many of the Potter novels worked as mysteries themselves.

I read the first 3 Potters as a younglin, but I stopped reading for fun until I started Koontz. After knowing the story, I don't see a reason in reading them with so many other stories to read. Maybe when my future kids read them I will with them.

All right, your choice. But you are missing out on one of the best stories ever told. There may be plenty of other stories to read, but not that many as good as these. I can only name about 20 Koontz books and a few Martin and Card books that are better. From Year 4 on in the Potter series, they are all superb, way better than the first three.

I agree with snowman. Even if you have heard the basic storylines of the remaining novels, it isn't anything compared to actually reading them and experiencing them for yourself. And the first three are trash compared to the greatness of the later books.

I always thought JKR would at least consider writing more books in the same Harry Potter universe. I mean, she knows everybody in the world will read it if she does.... and there's just so much she could write about!

I mean, she could do prequels from the Marauder's perspective, maybe a book from Snape's perspective while he was a Death Eater, from a certain character's kids that she introduced in the prologue, or a whole new character entirely. I always thought it would be really, really tempting for her.
