yep, what the title says! i finished reading door to december today. it was pretty good, i liked it, though it was not one of my favorites so far (that title goes to Watchers and Life Expectancy). Still good though. i kinda like the story that Melanie was told about "the cat who ate himself". it was strange but interesting and even (i felt) a tiny bit funny. additionally, i would have liked an epilogue or something at the end telling what became of all the characters in the future. i felt it almost needed something like that but i was still satisfied with the ending for the most part.next i plan to reread the christopher snow books since they are really amazing and i love them so much. you can also expect to see some chistopher snow fanart from me in the nearing future I love that series!
oh yeah, and i was wondering if anyone could help me find a certain Dean Koontz book. my mom, who also reads his novels, was telling me about one which featured phycic children who had been raised in a lab. there was a boy with destructive powers and a girl with healing powers...(i think thats what she said)? anywho, does anyone know what this book is called? ring any bells? if you could let me know that would be awsome. if there's no such DK book and my mom is thinking of something entirely different, could you also let me know? thanks! |

That book you are talking about that you don't know what it is, is Sole Survivor.
Glad you like the Snow books, they are wonderful. Such a cool world he invented for the Snowman to live in. As for The Door to December, that was a very good book indeed, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It doesn't make my top 10, but I think it is in the early 20's for me. What did you think of Dan Haldane? I thought he was brilliantly written. I love his attitude, sorta reminds me of Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. What happened to your head? Dan: I tried wearing a hat that was too small for my big head...or...I got attacted by an old lady when I tried to help her across the street. Hahhahah, such a funny man. Life Expectancy is very classy! Edited by christophersnow |

I do remember reading this and thinking it was very good, but I don't remember many of the details. I know that it was one of the many "re-writes" that DK published in his 10-year plan to re-release some of his older books. But it seemed to me that he must have written a lot of his more recent humor into the book after the original publication. The tone was pretty dark other wise, and he went for some pretty straight scares in that one, so the humor just seemed more plugged in for some reason.
Also, it's the only one of the re-releases that has been re-released yet again with the new Berkley editions. A good book overall, and gets some appropriately good reactions around here. |

christophersnow, you are right. if i had to rate door to december it would be in my top 20 but not top ten(close though). as for Dan Haldane, i think he was probably my favorite character in the whole book. i loved his personality and many of the remarks he made caused me to laugh out loud (take the hat excuse for the wound on his head, for instance) absolutely awsome character! he was funny but he was serious when it came to getting his job done and protecting Laura and Melanie. there should be more police officers like that in real life
Also, christopher snow books are amazing! they make my top 5 favorites! it will be a historic day for Christopher Snow fans when Ride The Storm is (finally) released! also, thanks for telling me which book to look for. i think i've heard of the title before... |

Loved, loved, loved,Door to December! But yes, I agree, it needs "more to it". LOVED the story,(and loved Dan too!) but would have liked the story to be more developed.
