Hi I'm new to this forum and would like to get some information. I am interested in buying a moped or a goped, my reaason for a goped is that I would have to carry either one up 16 stairs as I live on the 2nd floor condo. I would like to only buy american made and probably a goped is more up my alley. I found one that is called 52cc Dirt Dog gas scooter and this is exactly what I need. I travel 3 miles to work one way everyday not to far from my home but I get off at midnight and find myself walking home which is dangerous, so a small goped would be great. I've seen them where people can fix them up with seats and lights for nite driving. I would like to buy only american made. I have a few friends that have bought scooters but they are made in china and when 2 of my friends had problems with theirs they had a hard time getting them fixed because parts were not available here in the usa, and would have to be special ordered, plus there are not many people that will even attempt to try and fix them. I have looked on craigslist and find that there people outthere looking for someone to fix their scooters that are made in china. This seems to be a big problem, so I want to do it right and buy american made. If I were buying a moped I would have much better luck finding places that can fix them, but gopeds seem to be differnt. Parts are not readilly available. If anyone knows where I can find american made gopeds please let me know.

I can tell you from experience that those Chinese peds can be a pain to get parts for, let alone find a mechanic that knows how to work on them. I do all my own work on my go-peds, and it's relatively simple. Go-ped is definitely the way to go, parts are readily available, as well as shops.

Agreed you made the right choice waiting for a Genuine Goped. I was looking on ebay and saw many weed wacker engines that would fit nicely on my GSR Cruiser. Gopeds are so easy to fix, you can use other parts to fix it. I converted my Bigfoot Geo into a GSR Cruiser using the hardware store. Just remember if you have pnumatic tires and a chain, it will weigh more but ride much smoother.
Also, chain driven and pnumatic works well in the rain as well as off-road.

When someone tells me I can't thats when I am most likely to do.
