Why all the hate? To the Dark Side, that leads. I was disheartened to read many negative reviews about this book. I've only read "Revelation", then Invincible; the final book in the Legacy of the Force series. For as long as there are Jedi, there will always be Sith; but this installment of the EU is far from just a rehashing of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Instead it features an even more twisted villain who uses and abuses his power "to serve..."

The beginning has a very intense light saber duel; that is ultimately the payoff of Jaina Solo's
Mandalorian training; it has some gut-wrenching torture scenes; and a little comic relief here and there from Ben Skywalker's wit; or innuendos that disgust Jaina about how her father, Han Solo
looks when his libido is up. It also features some new advancements in medicine in that long ago
galaxy, but most of all - this is where the EU can be appreciated: you see a LOT of the Force abilities of Jedi being exploited. I won't even delve into how Grand Master Luke Skywalker uses his sleight-of-mind Force skills to tricking Darth Caedus. The final confrontations are very intense, and also very emotional, hardly something I can say about some 2 or 3 EU books I've read. (Not all of them from the "Legacy")
series.

Boba Fett's scenes have been lessened though the book opens with them after the prologue; and those are some scenes of caustic wit, along with Jaina's encounter with the Mandalores before her first attempt at Caedus. The ending leaves the reader hopeful, but I guess leaves the EU open as well for more stories
to tell of the Solos/Skywalkers.

Caution: This is an extremely violent novel!

8/10
