i love rust converter, in fact yearly i jack my truck up as high as i can, and coat all the rust i find on the frame, underbody, wheel wells, etc, and paint right over it (for visable parts) with gloss black spraypaint, then i go ahead and use spray on undercoating on the bulk of it because it goes a longer way and dries more quickly than the paint.. thus the entire underbody gets protected, and the frame and wheel wells get a nice new coat of gloss black that lasts the car show season, and still protects through the winter..
im glad the technique worked for ya! |

Hey, OrngCntyChpprs! Don't know if you've been around in a while but I just wanted to drop down here and let you know that your solution to my problem has so far worked perfectly. I did almost exactly what you suggested back in July, and so far it's holding up very well.
I started by sanding the hell out of the rusted area on the bottom of my driver and passenger side doors. I then applied some of the Rust Converter that you suggested. The next day, I repeated the process, sanding away the first coat of rust converter until I was met with the polished metal base. Then, just to be sure, I applied another, thinner coat of the converter and let it dry another day. But that's where I varied a little. I didn't really think I needed another coat of primer or a finish, so I just went ahead and painted over the converter, which was technically a primer anyway. Only two days after the paint dried I then applied a coat of Turtle's Scratch Remover and Polisher to the whole car, followed by a coat of liquid Turtle Wax, plus RainEx for the windows. The converter works excellently. In fact, I even applied some of it to some nicks and paint chips on the hood using a Q-tip, followed by body paint (also using a Q-tip). And you can only tell the little pin-holes were there if you look directly at them. Right now the car looks great. I don't have the capacity to take and load some photos of it right now, but that could change eventually. Anyway, buddy, thanks for the help! EDIT: This isn't a pic of my car, but other than the window and moon-roof guards, it is almost identical: |

No, that's not bad at all. I can see some slightly darker coloring inside the red line, but without the label it's really hard to pick it up. Nice work.
I plan on getting it done somtime in the next week or two. I'll post here if I have any more questions and to let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the help. |
