You can use a silicone based grease which can come in food grade to prevent harsh smell or other health concerns you may have.

yes you can, only it washes away easy. i used to use that in and ice machine. had to reapply it several times a day to keep things from sticking because as it filled with water, it washed the silicone off. but since this is a humidifier, and its not going to be used for human consumption, i recommend the marine based grease.
anything will work really, i'm just looking at how many times you want to reapply the stuff. do it once and be done with it is my philosophy. |

Okay I got the thing apart and cleaned - there was 2-3 inches of dust over everything!
I also noticed that nothing really comes in contact with water (only the drum) so I'm gonna try WD40 because that's what I have, well vasaline too but it doesn't spray. So next question I can turn it on and spray while the moving parts are moving - that way I can see what moves and what doesn't? |
