AMEN,Andy! Glad you had a good outing and parked for FREE!

One of the first times I ever rode a `ped I probably saved a wee girl's life because of being able to see so much detail around me at a slow speed.

Riding just a coupla' blocks from my house, I spied a very tiny lil' toddler crawl up into her Daddy's 4X4 F-250 truck's rear wheel well. I guess she found a new hiding place. So I jumped off the Sebring, knocked on thee house door, and asked the lady if she knew where her daughter was at that moment. that got Mommy moving!

I was so thankful I had `happened' along at the exact time on the exact machine needed to protect the little thing from terrible tragedy.

    Long live the MOPED! don

Wow, that's a pretty awesome story there. I have yet to save any lives with my moped, but I sure as mind wouldn't mind stopping and helping if I happened to stumble upon anyone in dire straits. Good move there, Don!

Yeah,Wal, the moral of the story is that you can see so much better on a `ped or a bicycle because you have more awareness of the outside world.

A similar thing happened years ago as I was driving home from  a hard day, tired from concrete work. traffic was pretty heavy as I rode down the Appalachian Hwy.(Rt.32) nearing Jackson,Oh.

I had a pick-up truck loaded down with tools and i was just thinking about getting home and taking a rest after doing concrete work that day.

As I passed Pattonsville Rd., I noticed at a direct right angle that a toddler was pattering toward the big 4-lane HWY., walking down the middle of the road. Instead of slamming on the brakes, parking, and trying to run on foot back to the intersection, I gunned the big racing 460 cu.in. engine and spun it thru the median returning to Pattonsville just in time(maybe 30 ft. left) to reach down and sweep the tiny lil' boy up. I looked around for a house, and  then spied a young woman coming down thru her yard looking for the baby. She had fallen asleep sun-bathing. I kinda' was flustered anyway , so I bawled her out a little and handed her  the boy.

Again, was I thankful I had that big engine and had accidentally seen the tiny kid off to the right.

Kids just don't know anything and a new Mother or Dad have got to watch them every second. God was watching over that toddler that day for sure,I believe.  don-ohio
