I was reading about DK, about his everyday events, he alternates walking Trixie for EXACTLY an hour every day, and brushes twice a day.  Totally schedueled.  Sounds like he really appreciates his dog.  I just recently got a puppy, it is a short haired chow-chow mix, but looks similar to a golden.

Just wondering who else has a dog or almost gotten a dog, and did DK influence your decision at all?

I have a dog. No it's not because of DK, but it would be REALLY cool if my dog were as smart as a lot of the dogs in his books.

I'm not a happier person because I'm not allowed to have a dog in the apartment where I live  As for DK, it has nothing to do with him, I love dogs naturally. And by the way, I've been feeling somehow annoyed for this repetition of smart dogs in his books. I'm tired of so many smart whoof whoofs. Argh!

I had a retriever/shephard mix that was extremely intelligent. She would get her backpack every Friday night hoping to go backpacking each weekend. she carried her own food and frisbee/bowl. The amazing part was the soccer. At the time she was a pup, I was going to all the Sockers, San Diegos indoor soccer team home games, and always going to the beach and kicking a soccer ball. she picked up the game, and could dribble a soccer ball off her nose the entire length of the beach, and also play 1-on-1 where a human would goalie in the edge of the surf, and she would drive the ball down at you and quickly around for a score in the water. She drew BIG crowds doing this. She also was an excellent swimmer, would chase a frisbee past the surf and then body surf the wave in with a huge smile and frisbee in mouth. memories!!
Ask me about DEAN KOONTZ Forum T-shirts. Cool.
