I'm watching the X-files again as I never really followed all episodes but I always loved the show. I found a website which has Seasons 1, 2 & 5.

I was watching this episode from season 1 called 'Ice' (Episode 8). Available here ...

I read deception point a couple of years back and now while watching this X-files episode 'Ice' I found a huge similarity between the book and that particular episode. I suggest you all watch it. Just to let you know that the X-files started in 1993(sep) and this episode is from season 1 which makes it pretty old. Dan Brown's 'Deception point' was published in 2001.

The idea to both the episode and the book is so similar that it really made think.

Watch the episode and if you've read the book, do reply with comments.

And the ones who have read digital fortress please do watch 'Ghost In The Machine' aswell. Episode 7 on the link in my previous post.

Did Dan Brown actually take the ideas and make them his own ? Or is he just inspired by the X-files ?

Again .. please do comment on what you guys think.

I've seen the "Ice" episode and remember it quite well, but I've never read DECEPTION POINT, so I guess I can't really say. But it seems to me that Dan Brown doesn't often write about aliens, does he? I mean, apart from the arctic setting of the novel, how do you find it similar to the X-Files episode?

Yeah well you need to read the book and watch the episode to figure this one out. Well basically the story is about extra-terrestrial life on earth. It's not about aliens really. But instead these are bugs of some sort which came from space when a metroid hit earth millions of years ago and they have been surviving in ice till now. The idea of the story to both the episode and the book is exactly the same but the book of course has some twists in the story just to make the story a bit more exciting.

Again .. please comment on it if you have read the book and watched the episode.
